The boys had quite the experience here, though I would imagine that they felt it may have been a little too young for them. Their younger cousins had a blast with all the different rooms that in the end made it a much more memorable time for them.

This year we chose to travel to the beautiful country of Portugal to take in the sites and culture of the oldest nation state on the Iberian Peninsula and one of the oldest in Europe.
Arrived in Porto to our AirBnB spot.
Exploring the area around Porto São Bento
Dinner at Mundo Ristaurante. Not a bad way to start our trip.
Stopped off at Livraria Lello, but couldn't Harry Potter or the Philosopher’s Stone?
The architecture in Porto is just so colourful and fun to look at.
Possibly THE BEST meal we had. With only a handful of tables in the entire place, Porta 4 was nothing short of fantastic.
Porto at night is just so captivating.
Headed to Vila Nova de Gaia for a bridge tour, including the famous Dom Luís I Bridge.
And we can't visit Gaia without sampling some Port wine at Porto Cálem.
Even the tour boats are so colourful.
Thanks Porto for being so hospitable during our visit. Now it's time for some suntanning.
A five hour, 574KM drive from Porto takes us to the beautiful maritime town of Lagos.
Next stop, a tour of the Praia de Benagil in Lagoa in the Algarve region of Portugal.
You can't be by the water and not eat seafood. So what better place to eat than Cantinho Algarvio.
Still aching for seafood, boys decided to catch their own crabs around the Forte da Ponta da Bandeira.
Time to do some fishing for our next meal with Alvor Boat Trips. That's a mighty fine baby grouper. :)
After all the excursions, it's time to soak up some sun at Praia da Dona Ana.
Our last meal in Lagos at Casa do Prego.
On our way to Lisbon, we drive 274KM (2.5 hours) to Evora to visit the Capela dos Ossos. Those skulls are creepy.
Finally arrive to our place in Lisbon after driving 136KM (1.5 hours) from Evora.
The place to get the best eats of Lisbon under one roof: Time Out Market Lisboa
Walking around Cais do Sodré at night catching the sunset.
Today, we are off to Sintra to visit the Palacio Nacional da Pena (Pena Palace), built in 1854.
Next stop in Sintra is the hilltop medieval Castelo dos Mouros built by the Moors in the 8th and 9th centuries.
Right around the corner from our place was this quaint local eatery Zapata.
We headed to the district of Belém to visit the Jerónimos Monastery, built in 1502. Also one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.
We were even lucky enough to catch the changing of the guards that takes place once a month, on the third Sunday at 11am.
Torre de Belém. Another one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.
Of course the boys were much more interested in finding tiny hermit crabs all around to even notice the Torre de Belém.
As we wrap up our trip to Portugal, it was time for a final dinner. This time at Sea Me Peixaria Moderna at the Time Out Market.
Our final tour of Lisbon before having to head home. What a blast!
Mundo Fantástico da Sardinha Portuguesa
Who knew there was this much love for Sardines?!
Adeus Portugal, vamos sentir saudades. Vejo você na próxima vez!

So what do you do when the water on a lake freezes over? You go fishing. :) We took the boys for their first ever ice fishing trip and we think they enjoyed it. I definitely know they enjoyed skating on the frozen lake shooting the one frozen fish we caught around like a puck.
